African American Kids May Have More Food Allergies

According to a study published in Pediatrics, African-American children in the U.S. have a higher rate of food allergies than children of other races, and new research suggests that genetic and environmental factors may explain why.

Researchers found self-reported black race to be associated with a higher risk for all food allergies examined. Genetically verified African ancestry was significantly linked to peanut, but not milk, allergies.

A Rat amongst us

He ya’ll, got hit with some inspiration today… The long and short of it is, my sons found a baby rat – YES A RAT – that had fallen from its nest and decided to feed it (every hour mind you) and place it under a heat lamp so they can take it to a nature center tomorrow where it will receive greater care and have a chance to live. At first I was simply OUTDONE, but the more I reflected on this and the more I watched what great care they took of this baby rat, the more I thought of myself as this rat – a disgusting little creature to most, but not so to my God who has taken me in His LOVING hands and has fed, nurtured and cared for me THROUGH ALL OF MY FALLS! The video (on our Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/pages/BROSKEE-and-the-FAM-BAM/261321168257) reminds me of God’s large loving hands consoling me through the trauma life can bring! Thanks for the lesson fellas!
